Title: Tony's Food Paradice

Blog Entry: It seems so easy to find something to complain about when it comes to dining out in this area, but I think I have been stumped this time. My wife Kimberlee and I went to what I think is the newest eatery in town . It's called Tony's Food Paradise, and though while I have to say it is NOT the most fancy place in town, I don't think Tony had that in mind when he and his staff were putting the place together. We were a little confused about the name, because other then the brightly striped beach umbrellas which adorn the outside eating area, and the matching tablecloths inside, we could find little to do with any kind of paradise. The décor is a hodgepodge of items that seem to have had very little thought put into them, and my wife is dying to redecorate for them. As far as the food goes though, in my eyes its a traditional Greek diner. It has all the American classics, as well as several Greek specialties. The menu showcases items like salads and sandwich's, including pita's and wrap's, as well as burger's. There are pasta's including Tortelini Toscana ,and Linguine Arabiata with chicken breast and spicy tomato sauce. They also serve breakfast during all open hours, which some people love, and seems to be a “diner” thing. We decided to check out the Greek fare, starting off with the Saganacki, or “flaming” or “oompah” cheese as some people call it. It rocked. A big portion served with pita slices and flamed table side for your oohing and aaahing pleasure. Kimberlee followed this with the Lamb Gyro platter, which she happily reported seemed to have a homemade tzatiki sauce, instead of the too heavy garlicky sauce she has been served at other local restaurants. I decided after much thought to go with the original philly cheesesteak sandwich and the soup of the day, which was split pea with ham. I was by no means disappointed with my sandwich, but I wouldn't call it original since it has vegetables like lettuce and tomatoes on it. It was very good, it was stuffed full of tender thin sliced beef and tons of tangy cheese, along with grilled onions. They are common on an “original” Philly which I have had my share of, but vegetables are not common on them but they didn't hurt the sandwich any either. The Spit Pea with Ham was very tasty but it could have been a little thicker. It is just a difference in preference between who ever made it and myself. I like my split pea soup so thick you can stand a spoon up in it. Tony's tasted very good I didn't even need to add salt or pepper. So since there was no umbrella in my glass of iced tea I would either change the name of the diner or redecorate. Other then that it was a very pleasant eating experience and can't wait to go back and try some of the Greek dish's like the Souvlaki wrap or the gyro and feta omlette.
